Getting 'a head start'

Reynolds and Carnegie are among 96 students taking part in the Early College program offered by Lewiston High School. The aim is to boost aspirations and help more students get accepted at competitive colleges.

Gifted program to resume

Teachers will use objective measures, such as achievement and aptitude tests, and subjective measures, such as observations by teachers, pupil performance and school work. Peers, parents and community members may recommend that a student be evaluated for inclusion in the program and a student may also request it…Once a student is accepted in the program, the classroom teacher writes a personalized learning plan, which is shared with other teachers and parents.
